Building Sustainable Communities Through STEM Education
It seems fitting that, on Valentine’s Day, we showed some love to Okmulgee. Along with Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, Okmulgee Area Development Corporation and Huber Helps, CP Kelco delivered a check for $50,000 to Dunbar Intermediate School and helped them dedicate their new STEM SmartLab® program. We were also proud to have Mr. Christopher Seely to represent the Huber family and celebrate with us.
STEM is an acronym for a curriculum based in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Using an interactive and collaborative approach, students will gain hands-on experience in the lab solving real-world problems. Best of all, this new STEM lab will make learning fun and interesting with exposure to the latest technology, such as a 3D printer, robotics, kits to build a solar-run car and more!
We’re living in a highly technological society with tons of data generated every day. A STEM education equips students with the ability to gather and evaluate evidence, solve problems and make good decisions. The skills they develop in the lab will help them solve the complex challenges of tomorrow.
Of course, we’re hoping the new STEM lab helps students cultivate a career interest in engineering and science, and that some will bring those great skills to work for us at CP Kelco.

CP Kelco has been part of the Okmulgee, Oklahoma, USA community since 1977, when our biogums plant began production. As part of our ongoing commitment to improving the world today for a better tomorrow, we have pledged to donate a percentage of our net revenues annually and expanded our approach to community engagement. Huber Helps builds on our long tradition of doing good in the communities where we operate.
The Huber Helps Impact Your Community funding program gives us an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy in Oklahoma that will improve students’ education for years to come. It’s just one way that we stand behind our commitment of sustainability, which incorporates the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) dimensions of People, Planet and Profit in our business decisions.
