Toweling

Constant growth of the tissue and toweling market has seen the market polarized between branded and generic products each requiring different performance characteristics. Emerging economies are offering opportunities for growth in this mature market segment. New concerns on environmental / end-of-life properties as well as increased performance expectations are driving product developments in toweling globally.

Characteristics such as absorbency, softness, dry and wet strength, degradability - and let’s not forget economics - are the key performance parameters for various towel grades.

The retention and functionality of various cationic additives (e.g. wet strength agents) is positively enhanced by CALEXIS. The anionic charge of CALEXIS provides additional binding sites for cationic additives and balances the ionic charges. The amount of wet strength agent can be reduced, which also impacts whiteness, absorbency and softness. Further benefits relate to the reduction of microbiological activity and BOD load. CALEXIS also acts as an excellent dry strength agent both in tissue and toweling papers.

CALEXIS is flexible enough to offer a choice of addition points. Optimization for each individual system is recommended for enhanced benefits.
