CELFLOW® Cellulose Ether
CELFLOW® cellulose ether is a highly-purified, cold water soluble polymer derived from cellulose. Cellulose is the second most abundant polymer in the world and can be found in almost all plant material. Cellulose polymers are very long molecules that, amongst others, give strength to the plant material. Cellulose itself does not dissolve in water but, after introducing carboxymethyl groups on the cellulose backbone, can be transformed into carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), or cellulose ether, that is water soluble. Once made water soluble, the polymers exhibit excellent properties in water control.
CP Kelco’s CELFLOW® cellulose ethers are cost-effective specialty additives for use in both interior and exterior architectural and decorative coatings. CELFLOW products will thicken aqueous solutions and control flow properties with economical advantages compared to products such as hydroxyethyl cellulose.
