Message from CEO Robert B. Toth
November 4, 2003
To our valued customers and suppliers:
We appreciate your concern regarding the significant number of CP Kelco
employees who live and work in the San Diego area. And we, like you, are
grateful for the news that the fires in Southern California have been
largely contained or have completely subsided.
At this point, we know of one employee who lost his home and all of
his belongings in the fires. Thankfully, he and his family were unharmed.
We are happy to report, to our knowledge, none of our employees and their
immediate families have been injured during these tragic events.
In fact, our team in San Diego-supported by CP Kelco employees around
the world-pulled together to keep our San Diego plant and research facility
fully operational during these difficult times. This took a heroic effort
given the fact that many of our local employees were personally impacted
by the fires in some way.
I am proud of our people and their visible dedication to providing excellent
customer service in spite of their personal circumstances. Rest assured,
their tremendous commitment is shared throughout our company. Our team
members in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Knowsley, United Kingdom and other sites
worldwide were ready, if called upon, to step up and fulfill customer
orders.
Fortunately, our employees in San Diego are safe and we did not have
to enact a backup plan. We can always move production to other sites and
we can always rebuild plants, but we cannot replace our most important
asset at CP Kelco-our people.
Sincerely,
Robert B. Toth
President and CEO
