Merck's Danville plant manufactures xanthan gum for the CP Kelco company under a long term supply agreement. The 130 acre facility, which borders the Susquehanna River, is located in Danville, Pennsylvania and has a population of approximately 630 employees. This plant was built in 1941 by the U.S. government to support wartime activities. In 1950, the facility became part of the Merck organization.
