CP Kelco Philippines, Inc. is a carrageenan manufacturing plant built in 1997 and inaugurated on January 20, 1999. This 26-acre facility is situated in Barrio Abugon, town of Sibonga in the historic island of Cebu, Philippines. This fully automated plant employs state-of-the-art gel pressing technology and operates twenty-four hours a day. The plant has a population of approximately 150 employees.

The product, carrageenan, is a natural gum used as an ingredient in food and personal care products. It is extracted from warm and cold water seaweeds of the variety that thrives abundantly in the Philippines.

CP Kelco Philippines, Inc. is committed to Responsible Care. We embrace public responsibility on safety, health and environment placing emphasis on public dialogues and continuous community improvement.

We have adopted the community school, Abugon Primary School, by meeting their needs for books, facilities, educational materials, etc. through an annual budget of US$5,000.

We have done outreach programs in safety, health and emergency response. An environment monitoring team composed of company, community and local government representatives meet regularly to address environmental concerns and issues.
